Documentary Film Screening, “Vanishing Giants”
The documentary film “Vanishing Giants” screening at Fovea Exhibitions, followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Jennifer Hile and National Geographic Adventure photo editor Sabine Meyer In Thailand, wild elephants have it good: They're legally protected.
Tame elephants, on the other hand, live with a more uncertain fate.
Considered livestock, they're afforded no protection from being maimed
or killed by cruel handlers. Activist Sangduen "Lek" Chailert is changing that with the creation
of the Elephant Nature Park, a sanctuary north of Chiang Mai where
rescued elephants can heal and thrive. Get a glimpse into her success and challenges this Saturday at Fovea
Exhibitions, where we will be screening “Vanishing Giants,” an
award-winning film by journalist Jennifer Hile, in conjunction with
Palani Mohan’s exhibition of the same name, on view at Fovea Exhibitions through June 1st 2008. 100% of proceeds of photographs from the Beacon Community Center's after school photography class will be auctioned and donated to 'Adopt an Elephant' in the Elephant Nature Park of Thailand.
